No, the TextObject command has never been implemented on the Mac.

In the menu, Window > Show Main Tool Palette will make it appear.  If the main tool palette is closed when you quit Rhino, it will not appear again when you start Rhino again.  This was implemented by request, but I see that it can lead to confusion for others.

I still think this is a hardware problem you are having.  No one else is reporting this as a problem.  I have borrowed a MacBook and tested this and I cannot duplicate this. If you unplug all external monitors and all monitor cables, do you still have this problem? Can you describe more clearly exactly what the problem is? ...
